Here’s What We Know So Far About the Electric Chevy Silverado

2021 Chevrolet Silverado | Greer, SC

GM recently announced that Chevrolet’s popular pickup truck is going electric. With a new electric Chevrolet Silverado coming to the Chevy lineup, GM continues to pave the way for an electric, zero-emissions future with its innovative electric vehicles.

Not only will the new electric Chevy Silverado become Chevrolet’s first full-size battery-powered pickup truck, but it will also be available for a wide range of uses. Whether you opt for the retail and fleet-oriented versions of the electric Silverado, or you simply want to enjoy the thrill of driving electric in your everyday life, the Chevy Silverado EV will blend Chevrolet’s classic pickup design and capabilities with GM’s advanced electric technology.

With over 400 miles of expected zero-emissions driving when fully charged, the electric Chevy Silverado will be powered by GM’s exclusive Ultium batteries. The Ultium platform is developed from GM’s new company, Ultium Cells LLC, which is based in Lordstown, Ohio. The full-size electric truck will be built at GM’s Factory ZERO assembly plant in Michigan, the same location that produces the GMC Hummer EV and upcoming Cruise Origin. A $2.2 billion investment in the facility in 2020 marked GM’s first EV-only assembly plant that continues to change the way electric vehicles are developed and built.
