Chevy Silverado and Colorado Named Finalists for 2020 Green Truck Awards

The editors of Green Car Journal recently tapped the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Chevrolet Colorado as finalists for the 2020 Green Truck Awards.

The Green Truck of the Year title has been awarded to the most eco-mfriendly pickup since 2005. The publication didn’t go into specifics on why the Silverado and Colorado were nominated, but both trucks are available with efficient diesel engines that make them attractive choices for environmentally-friendly driving.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Silverado 1500 offers a 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax® turbo-diesel engine that makes 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It also yields an impressive 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for two-wheel-drive models.* The Silverado can also be equipped with a regular 2.7-liter gas turbo engine that improves on typical truck fuel economy with 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.*

Chevrolet Canyon

The Canyon’s 2.8-liter four-cylinder Duramax® turbodiesel delivers 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It’s good for 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.* Meanwhile, the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine achieves a solid 19 city mpg and 25 highway mpg.*
