The all-new Cadillac ELR will be ready to integrate into the Smart Grid as soon as it comes off the production line. By using OnStar’s cloud-based connection and the luxury coupe’s extended range electric vehicle technology, the ELR will be able to communicate with the electric grid and save energy.
In addition to all of the regular features to which ELR owners will have access with the OnStar RemoteLink Mobile App, such as checking vehicle operating systems and sending remote commands, owners will be able to access functions unique to electric vehicles. Some of these include checking the vehicle’s current state of charge, its electric range, electric miles driven, and the electric equivalent of MPG.
One of the most awesome features of the Smart Grid is the “aggregated services” feature. With the permission of the customer, electric service providers can manage the charging of participating vehicles in a given geographic area, allowing them to properly distribute and utilize all of the available renewable energy on a large amount of EVs simultaneously.
When the ELR does come off the production line, you’ll be able to find it right here at Bradshaw Cadillac. For more information, give us a call at (864) 416-7397!
