Chevrolet Creates #DayItForward Campaign to Celebrate Charity and Kindness

Chevrolet is using this Leap Year as an excuse to do some seriously cool charitable work. Under the banner of their #DayItForward campaign, Chevrolet helped make a difference in all sorts of different ways.

“Time is such a precious commodity and having an extra day this year presents an amazing opportunity for all of us to do something impactful,” said Paul Edwards, Chevrolet Vice President of Marketing. Edwards further states, “The Chevy team is going to take those extra hours and put them towards doing unexpected acts of kindness for people—something that we hope others will embrace and repeat.”

Here are just a few way’s the Chevrolet Day It Forward campaign helped out across the country.

  • Chevy teamed up with The Ellen Show for Ellen’s “Trunk of Dreams” event. The show gave away a Chevy Malibu to a hardworking college student.
  • In cahoots with the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show, Chevrolet helped provide teachers at Whaley Middle School in Los Angeles with much-needed school supplies.
  • Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Spacey and the Kevin Spacey Foundation and Chevrolet gave Diontae Simpson, an aspiring actor, a grant so that he can study at a prestigious drama school.

How did you spend your Leap Day? Hopefully, it was as rewarding for you as it was for Chevy’s Day If Forward recipients! Tell us about it at Bradshaw Automotive today!

2016 Chevy Volt Makes This Year’s ’10 Best Engines’ List

2016 Chevrolet Volt

The Ward’s Auto “10 Best Engines” list tends to celebrate traditional engines each year, listing the most innovative, powerful engines that have been created for the past year’s line-up.  However, this year there seems to be a different trend.

This year, Ward’s stretched the definition of engine by adding three hybrid models to their list, honoring the powertrains within: the 2016 Chevrolet Volt, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-In Hybrid, and the 2016 Toyota Prius.

Of these three, the 2016 Chevy Volt is by far the most impressive, with the ability to run on electricity alone when charged. In fact, the current Chevy Volt can travel up to 53 miles on pure electricity.  That completely unheard of in the electric market!

It’s worth noting that by including these three models on their list, Ward’s is truly recognizing the power of hybrid powertrains. They may not be traditional engines, but they can still be remarkably powerful.  This may also show that perhaps hybrid engines are becoming increasingly popular.

Could Keeping Gym Essentials in Your Car Work For You?

Working Out

If one of your New Year’s resolutions this year is to hit the gym this year, we have one big recommendation for you: keep your gym essentials in your car. Many active, gym-goers find that getting ready to go is half the problem.

There’s no need to keep an entire separate gym bag in your car, but if you can keep as much as a change of clothes and sneakers in your vehicle, you can be ready at a moment’s notice.

Plus – shouldn’t you have a water bottle, a clean towel or two, and some healthy snacks ready in your in case of emergencies anyway?  So whether you head to the gym or you end up on the side of the road, you are prepared!

Whatever you do, don’t forget to take your smelly gym laundry out of the car when you get back home! Hopefully this helpful trick will help you to reach you New Year’s Resolution this year!  For more tips and tricks, visit us at Bradshaw Automotive.

Christmas Travel Tips

Airport

Many people absolutely loathe holiday travels and while you may be one of them, traveling doesn’t have to be difficult. There are plenty of things you can do now to make your trip easier. Travel smarter this time around with these Christmas travel tips:

Plan Ahead. Pack a week in advance so you have time to remember anything you would otherwise forget. Book your flight weeks, if not a month, in advance to get the flight you want and maybe even save some money. Know the TSA’s rules on liquids and packaging so you aren’t stopped at security for something minor.  This will help you get through the preloading process quicker.

Avoid Crowds. Avoiding the traveling masses is easier said than done. A lot of the avoidance is a result at what time you choose to fly. Flying in the early morning or late at night will result in fewer crowds, allowing you to get to your gate faster. Early flights are also less likely to experience delays, due to them being the first flights of the day.

Ship via Mail. Send the luggage you don’t need for the flight to your destination via snail mail. Things like extra clothes and Christmas presents will slow you down and could result in baggage fees.

Chevrolet Red Line Concepts Debut Before SEMA

Chevrolet Family Line-Up

Chevrolet brought their series of Red Line concept cars to SEMA, but released images and details on the vehicles beforehand to build up excitement and anticipation for the lineup. The diverse concepts include the Trax, Malibu, Camaro, Colorado, and Silverado 1500, in addition to the upcoming Chevrolet Spark RS concept. The Chevrolet Red Line concepts debuted November 3rd at SEMA.

The Red Line series was designed to show off the customization and personalization capabilities of Chevrolet’s 2016 lineup, and the Red Line upgrades will be available for vehicles in that lineup. The Red Line series upgrades include a new Enhanced Silver Metallic color palette option, Charcoal roof panel, and accents in red and Satin Graphite. Most of the changes will be purely cosmetic, so while the price has not yet been announced, they are expected to be rather affordable.

The 2015 SEMA Motor Show takes place in Las Vegas from November 3rd through 6th, drawing a crowd of over 60,000. Chevy is using SEMA to gauge interest in the Chevrolet Red Line concepts, but are confident that Chevrolet Accessories will become a quality alternative to aftermarket parts when it comes to personalizing their vehicles.  Share with us your thoughts about Chevy’s line up for the SEMA show!

Let GMC Help Manage your Chaos with a Spacious Crossover

By now, the school year is in full swing. For many parents this also means their lives are in constant go mode with soccer practice, dance classes, football games, after school band marching band rehearsals, and more. It can be hard to manage your chaos, but GMC wants to help.

GMC’s lineup of modern, capable, and spacious crossovers and SUVs may just be the perfect solution for controlling all the after school madness.

2016 GMC Terrain

On the small end of the spectrum, there is the GMC Terrain. It offers seating for up to five passengers and has exclusive MultiFlex sliding seating that allows you to expand the cargo space when you need it and give passengers extra leg room when you don’t. Behind the rear seat, you can have as much as 31.6 cubic feet of space, more than enough for a saxophone case, a pair of dance shoes, and a bag with all your soccer equipment.

2015 GMC Acadia

Step up a notch to the GMC Acadia, and you’ll get seating for seven or eight passengers. With the SmartSlide seating in the second row, passengers can easily access the third row of seats. And, with the third row folded, you gain 70.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

2015 GMC Yukon

At the top of the scale is the Yukon. You’ll be able to squeeze up to eight passengers inside—enough for a basketball team, a coach, and two reserve players. And, with the spacious interior, nobody will feel cramped and you’ll still have lots of cargo space behind the third row.

Staying Ahead Of The Curve: Cadillac Smartphone Integration

2016 Cadillac ATS
2016 Cadillac ATS

Cadillac has always been ahead of the curve. Just last year, you could find wireless charging capability as well as 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity featured broadly across the Cadillac lineup. This was before many other luxury brands had done so. Now, Cadillac is continuing to blaze the way for new technology by improving many of the Cadillac smartphone integration systems.

This feature is growing more and more important as smartphones become absolutely integral to daily life. David Leone, Executive Chief Engineer for Cadillac reports that the automaker is “moving quickly to enhance phone integration and overall system performance.”

This means that 2016 model year vehicles from Cadillac featuring the CUE’s 8-in multi-touch screen will boast functionality in Apple CarPlay. A press release from Cadillac reports, “Android Auto is expected to be phased into 2016 production at a later date.” Not only will Cadillac vehicles connect to both iPhones and Androids, it will also be a lot easier and more intuitive to access smartphone features.

If that wasn’t enough, Cadillac is making the processor in their CUE systems much more powerful for 2016. Users will enjoy faster boot-up times and improved voice recognition. Tell us what you think of Cadillac latest technology here at Bradshaw Automotive in the comments below!

Summer Car Maintenance Tips

Summer Road Trip

You know it’s summer when it hits 90 degrees, and your car knows it too. Taking care of a car in summer requires a slightly different approach than in the milder months or even in winter, especially since summer is the most popular time of the year to take road trips.  This makes it even more important to take care of your vehicle in hot weather.

One of the most important things you can do is keep track of your tire pressure, since it changes with the weather. Under-filled tires can cause an easily avoided blowout, and overfilled ones can decrease friction with the ground.  This can cause sliding or other potential dangerous situations on the road.

Your car is most likely to overheat in the summer, so it’s one of the most important times in the year to regularly check your fluids. Make sure your motor oil and coolant are topped off, especially before taking any road trips. You can also keep your car cool by parking in the shade and using your air conditioning if you have it.

We hope these summer car maintenance tips are helpful to you and keep you safe on the road this summer!  Tell us at Bradshaw Automotive if you have any other helpful tips for taking care of your car in the heat!

2015 Chevy Cruz Offers Distraction-Free Driving with the Touch of a Button

“I have a video I want you to watch, and no matter what, I need you to stay focused. Don’t take your eyes off the screen,” starts the Chevy video “Eyes On The Road,” posted to the Chevrolet YouTube channel by Chevrolet Films.

In a room with a video screen, several test-participants, and a proctor—who gave the aforementioned instructions—a video commences simulating the view one would see during a driving experience with a road and trees passing by.

All test-participants are able to keep their eyes successfully on the screen.

Now cue the distractions.

A repairman enters to noisily ‘fix’ an exit sign causing two people look over. Adorable barking puppies come in and one lady bends over to pet them.

A Steven Tyler look-alike rocker, zombies who have no regard for personal space, dancing “firefighters,” and hard-core wrestlers breaking through a wall proceed to enter the room, contending for the attention meant to go to the “road.”

“It’s hard to stay focused,” says the proctor, “but there are other things that steal our focus, like the cell phone. But what if at the touch of a button, your car could send a response?”

Meet the 2015 Chevy Cruz, Chevrolet’s answer for distraction-free driving in which drivers are able to send preset responses through the in-dash screen with the touch of a button, enabling their eyes to remain on the road.

So be sure to visit Bradshaw Automotive, and keep your “Eyes on the Road” in one of our Chevy offerings!
