At the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month, Buick unveiled its beautiful Avista concept. This futuristic car won the EyesOn Design Award for Design Excellence – Concept Car at the show.
This was the second year in a row that Buick won this award. It won it last year for its Avenir concept. This award recognized the best production and concept vehicle designs to make their debut at the show.
“Design has always played a large role in Buick’s rich history and recent success,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director, Buick Global Design, in a statement. He goes on to state that, “The Avista concept has been a labor of love by the team of designers, sculptors, engineers and talented craftspeople, including our UAW partners, who created this beautiful statement of Buick design. Avista represents the future essence of Buick design.”
The Avista has a sleek, powerful shape that pays tribute to Buick’s racing heritage. Its performance-oriented driving experience is further emphasized by carbon fiber and aluminum accents throughout the design.
What do you think about the Avista design? Would you like to see some elements incorporated into future production models? We at Bradshaw Automotive can’t wait to see what the Avista concept may bring to the actual Buick lineup!
The next-generation successor to the award-winning 2014 Chevrolet Volt will debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The 2016 Volt will aim to build on the strong foundation of its predecessor’s technology innovation. The current Volt has received multiple customer satisfaction awards from leading third-parties and was the highest-rated compact car under $55,000.
On average, Volt owners drive about 63 percent of their overall miles in electric vehicle mode, which has helped save more than 25 million gallons of gasoline since the car’s debut in 2010. It has also helped Volt owners collectively log more than 500 million gas-free miles.
The best part? Volt owners who charge regularly typically drive more than 970 miles between fill-ups, with only the occasionally monthly gas station visit.
“Volt is the perfect example of the ingenuity that drives everything we do at Chevrolet,” Mahoney said at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefings. “Volt fully delivers on the promises of Find New Roads and will continue to provide consumers with the transportation solutions they need and deserve in the future.”
