Three Reasons Why You Should Buy General Motors

Over the past couple years, General Motors has been taking some heat when it comes to their reputation. As Mary Barra has taken the helm of this automotive group, though, it appears that its brands are shaping up. Here is why you should buy General Motors vehicles, in three easy bullets:

  • Plenty of options to choose from. In the General Motors lineup, variety is key. Whether you are looking for a dependable pickup truck—enter the Chevrolet Silverado—or a fuel-efficient subcompact, the options are endless. General Motors even offers a variety of luxury, from the entry-level brands to the more premium models you would see in the Buick or Cadillac lineup. There is really no reason why you can’t find what you are looking for in the
  • Top-notch technology. When it comes to technology, General Motors is where to look. In the Buick brand, technology has become such a focal point that the American carmaker has recently announced that they will be offering WiFi hotspots in select 2015 models, making it easier to stay connected than ever before. Whether its technology that will help you stream music or the kind that will keep you from stopping at the gas pump frequently, GM has plenty of innovative ideas.
  • Still award-winning, despite recall difficulties. Regardless of the brand under GM’s name, you are going to find a variety of awards. Whether they are safety awards from institutions like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or awards based on overall performance, like those from J.D. Power and Associates, General Motors’ trophy shelves are lined with them, and for good reason, too. While the company is getting a lot of flack for numerous recalls, many of its newer models offer superior quality for a low price, making it an easy decision to buy.

With top-notch technology and terrific options, there’s nothing barring you from buying a General Motors’ vehicle. Make sure to stop in to Bradshaw Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac today and see what options are available to you!

New Cadillac Flagship Sedan to Debut in 2015

Next year, Cadillac will have a new car joining the model line, and it will be big one. The new sedan will be a flagship to lead all Cadillacs in both size and features.

According to Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell, “We are in development of a top-of-the-range car for Cadillac. It is a new architecture, rear-wheel drive, and, of course, all-wheel drive will be offered.”

Although no official name has been announced yet, the car with the codename LTS has had rumors spread about it for years, ever since the Cadillac Sixteen concept was introduced in 2003 and the Elmiraj was unveiled at Pebble Beach in 2013.

Bob Ferguson, Senior Vice President of Global Cadillac, said, “The Elmiraj was designed to be more than a concept car. It was designed to go out and test the market to see if there is an appetite for something like that.

It seems Cadillac found what they were looking for in its tests. You can expect to see the new sedan at Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac as soon as it is available. For now, head to our website and browse our inventory of 2015 models like the ATS, SRX and Escalade!

Do You Know the Best Month to Buy a New Car?

If you had to guess, when would you say is the best month to buy a new car? If you said December, you’re not alone. However, according to new data published by TrueCar.com, August reports the lowest average car prices of the year.

The study calculated the average price per transaction per month for the past five years. During August, new cars sold for an average of $29,296, while December defied popular belief with the highest average of the year at $31,146.

TrueCar.com attributes August’s lower prices to the exchange of older inventory for the new models which often debut around this time.

2015 Cadillac ATS Models Built with Improved Electronic Steering

Cadillac continues to expand its lineup of quality vehicles as it makes a splash in the luxury auto industry, reclaiming its fame as a top automaker. Most recently, the brand announced it is adding new and improved electronic steering for 2015 Cadillac ATS models.

The enhanced system promises a more dynamic driving experience, made possible by ZF Lenksysteme GmbH’s electronic power assist steering system.

“It means that you don’t have to sacrifice parking lot feel for spirited driving feel,” said Kevin Woodward, global key account for ZF Lenksysteme. “The new software change illustrates our ability to balance the goal of spirited performance, nimble and quick-responding steering with the premium luxury feel expected by Cadillac owners.”

The 2015 Cadillac ATS will feature updated steering technology.

The electronic control unit’s updated programming allows for a wider range of steering assist for the vehicle at both high and low speeds.

“Premium electric power steering by ZF Lenksysteme steering gear has great torsional stiffness and low operating friction to enhance the steering feel with almost perfect linear response,” said Woodward.

The Cadillac ELR is All the Luxury You Never Expected out of an EV

If we’re being honest here at Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, we’re not sure we ever saw the words “Cadillac” and “electric vehicle” ever co-existing in a happy marriage. But it turns out we were wrong—and in hindsight, it actually makes sense. It’s not that every electric vehicle (EV) had to be tiny, bland, and rather powerless—that’s just the way other automakers were making them.

Cadillac ELR EV
The all-new Cadillac ELR electric vehicle marries luxury and efficiency.

But then the Cadillac ELR burst onto the scene. Based on the Converj Concept, which made its debut back at the North American International Auto Show in 2009, the ELR is Cadillac’s first-ever EV and the first vehicle to apply Extended Range Electric Vehicle technology to a production vehicle. The vehicle combines Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology with a 1.4L four-cylinder engine to give it a range of over 300 miles.

Not only does the ELR feature revolutionary powertrain technology, it also bucks the idea that all EVs has to be tiny, unattractive little things that look like a box that got punched out of its normal shape. If we didn’t tell you the ELR was an electric vehicle, we bet you’d never guess. Don’t believe us? Take a look for yourself. Here at Bradshaw, we think it looks more like a futuristic sports car, and we think it drives like one too. So yeah, we were wrong—turns out the electric vehicle was actually just waiting for Cadillac to come along and actually make it cool for the first time.

The Benefits of Owning a Diesel Car Are Numerous: Owners Save Thousands

Buying a car can be downright overwhelming when you consider monthly payments, insurance, fuel costs, repairs and maintenance. If you’re looking to save money, choose a diesel. While upfront it may cost more, over the long run, a diesel can save you $2,000 to $6,000 in total ownership costs over three to five years as compared to their gasoline counterparts, according to research by the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI).

Not only are diesel models more fuel efficient, but they depreciate more slowly than gasoline models. According to AOL Autos, “UMTRI’s research compared 12 diesel vehicles to their gasoline counterparts and found they achieved between eight and 44 percent higher miles per gallon, resulting in ten to 29 percent lower fuel costs overall. When looking at depreciation, UMTRI found that 11 of the 12 diesel cars analyzed held their value better than their gas counterparts during the first three years of ownership, with eight logging savings of 17 to 46 percent. Over five years, there was an overall savings of 10 to 39 percent in depreciation costs.”

2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Diesel
Cars like the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Diesel are proving more fuel efficient that gasoline vehicles.

Diesel cars are becoming more and more common, with diesel trim variations available on many mass-market and luxury vehicles. More benefits of owning a diesel car? Not only are diesel cars more efficient and hold their value better, but their more fun to drive, too. Diesel cars typically offer more torque and in return, faster acceleration, and at lower rpm than their gasoline siblings.
