GMC Earns Most Refined Brand Award by KBB.com

2016 GMC Lineup

For the third-consecutive year, GMC earned the Most Refined Brand Award from Kelley Blue Book.

This prestigious award was presented to the GMC brand at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. The reason why the award is important is because it recognizes an automaker’s ability to create and maintain products that create excitement amongst prospective car buyers.

In order to determine each award winner, data from more than 12,000 KBB.com users was analyzed in the Kelley Blue Book Strategic Insights’ Brand Watch study. This study focuses on what factors are important to consumers when purchasing a new vehicle, as well as the buyer’s familiarity and loyalty towards a particular brand.

GMC’s Denali sub-brand was credited by KBB.com as being a huge reason why GMC was honored as the Most Refined Brand. Denali models are known for their enhanced style and superior luxury features. In fact, Denali vehicles accounted for 23% of all GMC retail sales last year, which outsold Porsche’s full line of products.

3 Reasons to Drive to Your Summer Getaway Instead of Fly

2015 Chevrolet Malibu

If you’re planning on traveling this summer, it’s likely you’re considering catching a plane to your warm-weather destination of choice. But why not drive instead? Driving to a summer getaway has just as many benefits as flying, if not more! Here are a few reasons why you should drive instead of fly.

Scenery

Staring out of the window of a commercial airliner can be gratifying, but it can’t make you feel as if you’re part of the scene. It’s like the difference between seeing something in person and seeing something on TV. Driving allows you to experience your surroundings in a visceral way. Plus, if you see something pretty, you can stop and gawk all you want.

Time

Commercial airliners fly at around 500 mph. Even if you’re a lead foot, your top speeds in a car are significantly less than 1/5 of that. Flying saves time, right? Well, when you add safety screenings and everything else that comes with flying—like parking a half-mile away, waiting for the shuttle, taking the shuttle, waiting for the shuttle to pick others, etc.—flying is awfully time-consuming. And stressful!

Despite all of that, flying will still probably beat driving when it comes to the quantity of time. What about the quality of time? Flying just really can’t compete with driving when it comes to fun.

Claustrophobia

Even if you’re not a particularly claustrophobic person, sitting for hours inside of an airliner can really rob you of any sense of space. Not to mention, airline seats are actually getting smaller. According to the USA Today, seats on some carriers have shrunk as much as three inches! With this decrease in personal space, driving in a car is just that much more appealing.

If you prefer to drive instead of fly, stop by Bradshaw Automotive today to pick out the perfect car to travel in!

New GM Safety Technologies Get New Testing Ground

2015 Chevrolet Colorado Interior

Unlike consumers, automakers often don’t have instruction manuals when it comes to figuring out their new technologies. Instead, they have to rely on their own innovative thinking. When an automaker is developing advanced safety features, like General Motors, then you need plenty of room and resources to ensure everything works perfectly.

To ensure that GM safety technology is the best, the American carmaker has made a $14 million investment on a new 52-acre research facility. In this facility, they will test their new, cool safety gadgets. The new testing ground is an addition to GM’s Milford Proving Ground. This testing ground will provide plenty of space and resources to significantly change the way safety technology is tested.

An observation building is outfitted with technology allowing engineers to remotely control vehicles as they maneuver around a 16-acre testing area, allowing GM engineers to basically turn real cars into the remote-controlled toys of your childhood dreams. There is also a tunnel simulator and areas designated to test parking and pedestrian technologies.

The new GM safety technologies that will be tested at the new GM testing grounds include automated braking and pedestrian recognition. Tell us at Bradshaw Automotive what you think of GM’s new investment in the testing of safety technologies below in the comments!

Things You Should Keep in Your Car in Summer

Driving

If your car breaks down in the summer, especially if you’re in an unfamiliar area, you’ll want to have a car that’s stocked with essentials. Here are some items you should always keep in your car.

1: Food and water! Keeping some snack bars in your glove compartment and a case of water in the trunk could save you while you’re waiting hours for a tow truck to find you, especially on a hot day.

2: A quart of oil. Most people don’t check their oil as often as they should, and if your oil starts to get low when you’re in the middle of a long drive or you start having car troubles, having a quart in the backseat can save you from a disaster.

3: A cell phone charger if your car supports it. Today a cell phone can get you out of just about any situation—you can even make emergency calls when you’re out of range. If you break down, you will want your cell phone.

That’s just a few of the things you should keep in your car during the summer. Check your fluids and drive safe, and hopefully you’ll avoid a breakdown!  Tell us at Bradshaw Automotive what other things you think we should keep in our cars as well in the comments below!
