Unlike consumers, automakers often don’t have instruction manuals when it comes to figuring out their new technologies. Instead, they have to rely on their own innovative thinking. When an automaker is developing advanced safety features, like General Motors, then you need plenty of room and resources to ensure everything works perfectly.
To ensure that GM safety technology is the best, the American carmaker has made a $14 million investment on a new 52-acre research facility. In this facility, they will test their new, cool safety gadgets. The new testing ground is an addition to GM’s Milford Proving Ground. This testing ground will provide plenty of space and resources to significantly change the way safety technology is tested.
An observation building is outfitted with technology allowing engineers to remotely control vehicles as they maneuver around a 16-acre testing area, allowing GM engineers to basically turn real cars into the remote-controlled toys of your childhood dreams. There is also a tunnel simulator and areas designated to test parking and pedestrian technologies.
The new GM safety technologies that will be tested at the new GM testing grounds include automated braking and pedestrian recognition. Tell us at Bradshaw Automotive what you think of GM’s new investment in the testing of safety technologies below in the comments!
General Motors has released the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon and they will both offer segment-leading numbers for V-6 midsize pickups. Both trucks beat their competitors with V-6 engines and automatic transmissions by 3 to 5 mpg.
“The all-new 2015 GMC Canyon adds segment-leading fuel economy to its winning resume,” said Kenn Bakowski, Canyon marketing manager, in a statement. “Innovations such as available active grille shutters combine with an aerodynamic design in a smaller, more maneuverable package to set a new standard for fuel economy in midsize trucks.”
Both trucks will use the same engines and have the same fuel economy ratings. For the 3.6-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection and continuously variable valve timing, two-wheel drive models are rated at 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined. 4×4 models get 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.
What do you think of the Colorado and Canyon fuel economy? Are you looking forward to saving money at the pump?
Over the past couple years, General Motors has been taking some heat when it comes to their reputation. As Mary Barra has taken the helm of this automotive group, though, it appears that its brands are shaping up. Here is why you should buy General Motors vehicles, in three easy bullets:
Plenty of options to choose from. In the General Motors lineup, variety is key. Whether you are looking for a dependable pickup truck—enter the Chevrolet Silverado—or a fuel-efficient subcompact, the options are endless. General Motors even offers a variety of luxury, from the entry-level brands to the more premium models you would see in the Buick or Cadillac lineup. There is really no reason why you can’t find what you are looking for in the
Top-notch technology. When it comes to technology, General Motors is where to look. In the Buick brand, technology has become such a focal point that the American carmaker has recently announced that they will be offering WiFi hotspots in select 2015 models, making it easier to stay connected than ever before. Whether its technology that will help you stream music or the kind that will keep you from stopping at the gas pump frequently, GM has plenty of innovative ideas.
Still award-winning, despite recall difficulties. Regardless of the brand under GM’s name, you are going to find a variety of awards. Whether they are safety awards from institutions like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or awards based on overall performance, like those from J.D. Power and Associates, General Motors’ trophy shelves are lined with them, and for good reason, too. While the company is getting a lot of flack for numerous recalls, many of its newer models offer superior quality for a low price, making it an easy decision to buy.
With top-notch technology and terrific options, there’s nothing barring you from buying a General Motors’ vehicle. Make sure to stop in to Bradshaw Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac today and see what options are available to you!
If we’re being honest here at Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, we’re not sure we ever saw the words “Cadillac” and “electric vehicle” ever co-existing in a happy marriage. But it turns out we were wrong—and in hindsight, it actually makes sense. It’s not that every electric vehicle (EV) had to be tiny, bland, and rather powerless—that’s just the way other automakers were making them.
But then the Cadillac ELR burst onto the scene. Based on the Converj Concept, which made its debut back at the North American International Auto Show in 2009, the ELR is Cadillac’s first-ever EV and the first vehicle to apply Extended Range Electric Vehicle technology to a production vehicle. The vehicle combines Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology with a 1.4L four-cylinder engine to give it a range of over 300 miles.
Not only does the ELR feature revolutionary powertrain technology, it also bucks the idea that all EVs has to be tiny, unattractive little things that look like a box that got punched out of its normal shape. If we didn’t tell you the ELR was an electric vehicle, we bet you’d never guess. Don’t believe us? Take a look for yourself. Here at Bradshaw, we think it looks more like a futuristic sports car, and we think it drives like one too. So yeah, we were wrong—turns out the electric vehicle was actually just waiting for Cadillac to come along and actually make it cool for the first time.

The new 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is, like every Cadillac, all about luxury. This time, however, it’s especially about connectivity. With the addition of OnStar 4G LTE and a brand new CUE Collection of applications, the ATS Coupe is one of the most connected Wi-Fi hotspot-on-wheels on the market. All it needs now is a limo version.
The faster, more reliable 4G connection is a step up from the 3G system in competing models, allowing passengers to access online content and information more quickly. This includes better in-vehicle app responsiveness through the CUE Collection, which is a comprehensive suite of goodies to make driver and passenger life that much better.
At launch, apps expected to make it to CUE include iHeartRadio, NPR, Slacker Radio, and The Weather Channel, with more coming later. It also includes enhanced Text-to-Voice for smartphone users as well as Siri Eyes Free integration for iPhone owners.
In addition to the 2015 ATS Coupe, this new tech will roll out to the entire Cadillac lineup throughout the second half of the 2014 calendar year. Don’t miss it at Bradshaw Cadillac!
There’s almost nothing cuter than watching a one-year-old demolish a cake on his or her birthday. And General Motors is now celebrating the first birthday of the Buick Encore. Though unless you’re planning on smearing cake all over your Encore (which we don’t recommend) we won’t see any messy cake-face pictures.
This first year has been a remarkable one for the Encore. It has changed many people’s perceptions of the Buick brand and has become a successful conquest vehicle—nearly half of all Encore buyers are coming from a non-GM brand.
In its first year, the Encore sold 97,311 vehicles worldwide. What made it so successful was its ability to stand on its own. It filled a void in the crossover segment by being one of the first luxury compact crossovers available.
“Right out of the gate, demand for the Encore was high,” Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick marketing, said in a statement. “It accounted for most of the segment’s growth last year and that’s because it offers the right safety, technology, and features in the right-sized vehicle for many customers.”
GMC and Chevrolet are injecting a healthy dose of power and fuel economy in their new 2015 models, including the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
Each model has taken on a new and improved standard 5.3-liter engine, returning an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with two-wheel drive. This marks a hefty 7 percent city mileage improvement and an incredible 10 percent highway mileage increase, proving that even full-size SUVs can deliver on the fuel economy front.
For consumers who desire even more power from their big machines on wheels, the GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali now feature an exclusive 6.2-liter V8 that produces a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque! You won’t find higher numbers in a full-size SUV anywhere on the market. In two-wheel drive mode, that engine offers 15 city and 21 highway miles to the gallon. Considering the power, that’s quite good!
General Motors is saying goodbye to chairman and CEO Dan Akerson, who has decided to step down to support his wife who was recently diagnosed with an advanced stage of cancer.
Akerson will be remembered as the leader who guided the company to record profits and significant improvement in vehicle quality while also ending government ownership in GM.
The Board of Directors has elected Mary Barra and Theodore Solso to replace him as GM CEO and chairman, respectively.
Barra brings 33 years of experience with GM to the table as well as a wealth of knowledge in the fields of manufacturing and engineering. She currently serves as executive vice president of Global Product Development and Purchasing and Supply Chain.
Solso has been a member of the GM Board since June 2012 and already has experience as chairman as the former chairman and CEO of Cummins, Inc., a Fortune 500 company that specializes in heavy equipment.
At Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac of Greer, SC, we have no doubt that Barra and Solso will deliver the same level of quality and commitment that Akerson has achieved so far. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish, and to seeing you at our dealership!
The Cadillac October sales numbers are in and things are looking good. The American automaker enjoyed its best October month since 2007 with a 10% increase in sales that made it the fastest-growing full-line luxury auto brand in the world. By increasing its sales compared to last year’s October, Cadillac also recorded its 17th consecutive month of growing sales.
The biggest leaders in the brand’s lineup were the ATS compact sport sedan, SRX crossover, and XTS large luxury sedan, all of which you can find at Bradshaw Cadillac. The ATS in particular performed phenomenally, with sales increasing by 119% and earning the Consumer Reports Recommended Buy in October alone.
SRX sales increased by a record 23% and the XTS, now available in a brand new 410 horsepower Vsport edition, jumped by 8%.
In addition to being an incredible sales month, October also marked the arrival of the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS, now available at the Bradshaw Cadillac dealership, which has already received more than its fair share of positive reviews from critics and buyers alike. Come visit our dealership today and check out the new CTS, along with the rest of the great new Cadillac lineup!
