There are many reasons why the team at Bradshaw Automotive loves calling Greer, South Carolina our home. We love its proximity to gorgeous national forests like Chattahoochee National Forest and Pisgah National Forest, we love its friendly population, and this time of year we really love the Holiday spirit. One thing we always look forward to is the annual Greer Christmas Parade.
Each year, the Greer Christmas Parade chooses a theme for its celebrations. This year’s parade theme is “Christmas at the Movies.” Participants are encouraged to dress as the characters from classic Christmas films like “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Home Alone,” “Elf,” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
The 1.1-mile parade will start at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017. Participants such as local clubs, various organizations, and businesses will line up their festive floats. Marching bands, cheerleaders, and beauty queens will help to amp up the Holiday spirit. Bring the whole family and enjoy spotting your favorite, familiar, Christmas movie characters, like Snoopy, Rudolph, and the abominable snowman. The Greer Christmas Parade changes every year, but it always promises to be a new and exciting way to welcome in the Holiday season with family and friends. Get into the spirit of the season this year in Greer.
Picking out a Christmas tree that fits into your home and livens up the holidays is a high point of the season. While heading to the nearest tree farm and grabbing the first tree in sight sounds ideal, it could be disastrous for your holiday. Home damage and a dead tree are two possible outcomes that can come from a carelessly chosen tree, so here are a few tips to help you pick the best Christmas tree and avoid any major problems!
- Plan – Measure your ceiling height from the floor and take note of it. A tree that’s too tall could do some damage over the holiday season. Make sure there’s plenty of room around where the tree will go as well. Move any furniture before the tree arrives.
- Purchase – Before making a purchase, check the tree’s height to ensure it fits into your home without hitting the ceiling. Shake the tree and take note of how many needles hit the ground. If it’s quite a few, it might be best to find a different tree.
- Care – Taking care of the tree is arguably the easiest part of the whole ordeal. Start by setting the tree up in a tree stand that holds at least a gallon of water. Fill the stand often to ensure the tree gets all the water it needs. Doing so ensures fresh needles all season long.
Have a very merry Christmas from all of us here at Bradshaw Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac!
Many people absolutely loathe holiday travels and while you may be one of them, traveling doesn’t have to be difficult. There are plenty of things you can do now to make your trip easier. Travel smarter this time around with these Christmas travel tips:
Plan Ahead. Pack a week in advance so you have time to remember anything you would otherwise forget. Book your flight weeks, if not a month, in advance to get the flight you want and maybe even save some money. Know the TSA’s rules on liquids and packaging so you aren’t stopped at security for something minor. This will help you get through the preloading process quicker.
Avoid Crowds. Avoiding the traveling masses is easier said than done. A lot of the avoidance is a result at what time you choose to fly. Flying in the early morning or late at night will result in fewer crowds, allowing you to get to your gate faster. Early flights are also less likely to experience delays, due to them being the first flights of the day.
Ship via Mail. Send the luggage you don’t need for the flight to your destination via snail mail. Things like extra clothes and Christmas presents will slow you down and could result in baggage fees.
