Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac of Greer, SCThe 2014 Silverado, which scored a top score of 81 in the Consumer Reports testing, was named the best pickup choice based on many of the truck’s positive qualities. The report listed the Silverado’s large bed, excellent fuel economy, high towing and loading capacities and smooth, comfortable handling as key factors in the pickup truck’s overall top ranking. The Dodge Ram, by comparison, scored a 78-point score in the report, while Ford’s F Series was beat out by both models.

The History of the Chevrolet Bowtie

In honor of this week’s National Bowtie Day (celebrated each year on August 28th), Bradshaw Automotive is looking into the history of Chevrolet’s iconic emblem.

Officially debuting in 1913 on two Chevrolet models, the 1914 H-2 Royal Mail and the 1914 H-4 Baby grand, much mystery surrounds the actual origin of the Chevrolet Bowtie. While the most widely accepted story claims that Chevrolet co-founder William C. Durant was inspired to adopt the bowtie design after seeing the pattern on his hotel room wallpaper in Paris, France, several other items have been cited as the emblems inspiration, including a newspaper advertisement , the Swiss flag and a dinner-table doodle made by Durant himself.

Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC CadillacOver the past 100 years, the Chevrolet Bowtie has adapted to the times, going through a wide range of styles and changes that eventually led to the gold version we all know and love today.

Corvette Stingray Features New Themed Display Cluster

Most new cars have a screen display that can be used to do just about anything you’d want to do in a car other than drive. They’ll show media information for the radio or your MP3 device, offer access to Bluetooth and GPS, give you control over specific car configurations ranging from the air conditioning to the suspension, and more. Over time, display screens have become somewhat of a mixed blessing, as the increased complexity and sheer scope of what they can do has plagued some in-car technology systems with usability issues.

Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac of Greer, SCThe advanced cluster display in the new 2014 Corvette Stingray aims to find a solution by offering “themes,” 10 different configurable display features designed to fulfill different drivers’ expectations from the display—and, at the same time, enhance the driving experience.

The main three themes are Tour, Sport, and Track. Tour mode provides essential vehicle information and multimedia displays for commuting drivers; Sports mode features a radial tachometer designed to recall the classic sports-car experience; and Track mode puts an emphasis on information vital for a successful track outing.

Other themes include a lap timer, an acceleration timer, and a G-force indicator. Check them out at the Bradshaw Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac dealership in Greer, SC, to see what it’s like to drive one of the most iconic sports car in America.

The 2014 Corvette – “Best Sports Car You Can Buy”

Nowadays, many car reviews find niche categories by which to classify new cars. Maybe you’re a student returning to school in a few weeks? Check out this list of the best “Back to School Cars.” If you’ve got kids, there are endless lists for the best family cars on the market. Bank robbers even got a recent shout-out from Cars.com in its “Top 10 Bank Heist Cars” list!

The most recent Edmunds car list, however, is short, sweet and to the point: “The 17 Best Cars You Can Buy.” The review sums up the absolute best car in each market segment, without any extra frills.

The simplicity of this review makes it even more important that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette was named the “Best Sports Car” for this year by the respected review site. Citing the car’s top performance, incredible design and incredible feel, Edmunds was quick to name the Corvette as the top spot in its segment.

“The all-new C7 Corvette has been transformed into a 100-percent genuine, world-class sports car that looks great, goes like hell and is built to a standard that now warrants its price,” said James Riswick, the author of the Edmunds article. “Even if the new ‘Vette didn’t put down incredible numbers, it would still be a hugely desirable weekend car for anyone with a heartbeat.”

New Corvette Stingray Offers Top Efficiency

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will offer drivers an EPA-estimated 17 city and 29 highway miles per gallon and 455 horsepower when equipped with an available 7-speed manual transmission. This rating makes the Stingray the most efficient sports car on the market for 2014.

Bradshaw Automotive of Greer, SCWith its 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine and a host of fuel-saving features like “Eco” mode, the all new Corvette Stingray boasts an 11 percent increase in highway fuel economy and a 6 percent increase in horsepower over the 2013 Corvette. The new Stingray is unique in providing both great fuel economy and top horsepower: cars with high power tend to guzzle gas, and those with great gas mileage usually don’t deliver great power. The new Stingray also maintains the classic Corvette design and style that has made it a top-performing sports car for over 60 years.

The car’s innovative technology is likely to inspire more cars in the sports car segment to improve their fuel economies.

“The Corvette Stingray establishes the benchmark for modern performance cars by using technologies to deliver more performance and more miles per gallon,” said Tadge Juechter, a Corvette spokesperson. “We expect more and more performance cars will follow Corvette’s example.”

The new Stingray also maintains the classic Corvette design and style that has made it a top-performing sports car for over 60 years.

John Legend Stars in Chevy Commercial

Grammy-winning R&B musician John Legend is featured in a new commercial for the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, along with Legend’s new song “Made to Love.”

The commercial, which aired last week during Game 7 of the 2013 NBA Finals, shows Legend struggling for songwriting inspiration, only to find it behind the wheel of a 2014 Impala. The commercial draws in part from Legend’s own automobile history: his first car was a Chevy, and he is an active supporter of the United States automobile industry.

“I see a lot of parallels between the renaissance of a classic brand like the Impala and what I try to do as an artist,” Legend said. “I strive to make my music innovative while grounded in a classic style. The Impala is a true classic, yet its understated elegance appeals to me today.”

Chevrolet Cars Named Best in Initial Quality

This week, five Chevrolet cars were named segment winners for the annual J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study, making Chevrolet the automaker with the most cars at the top of their sections in the study.

The J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study examines the average number of problems per car that users experience in the first 90 days following the purchase of a vehicle. According to J.D. Power, a majority of the problems experienced in this time frame relate to a vehicle’s design and technology; for example, users could find a navigation system or safety technology confusing or difficult to use. The study is designed to award the cars with the most user-friendly technologies for each vehicle class and to provide feedback to the automobile industry.
