Best Back to School Cars for the 2016-2017 School Year

It definitely isn’t too late to look at back to school cars, even if school has already started for you. Labor Day weekend is the Black Friday of auto sales, so save your car shopping for that weekend and get a great deal on one of these perfect cars for students!

Chevy Spark Is Among the Best back to school cars
Head Back to School in a Chevy Spark!

A favorite for students is the 2016 Chevy Spark. A tiny subcompact car with great fuel economy, parents will be happy for their teen to drive something easy to maneuver and comes with a small sticker price. The Chevy Sonic also tends to pop up on back to school lists thanks to its small size, cool styling, and safety-oriented features like Siri Eyes Free.

Chevy is also integrating “Teen Mode” into some of its cars, so keep an eye out for that. The 2016 Chevy Malibu has Teen Mode, which lets parents use a PIN to give information to parents about how teens are driving as well as muting the sound system until seatbelts are buckled and even lowers the maximum speed the car can go.

If you want to spring for something a little more pricey, the Buick Encore is a fun choice for students. It’s spacious and has plenty of room for your athlete’s gear, but it’s still compact and easy to maneuver. These are just some of the great cars parents and teens can agree on, so if you’re still not sure, ask us more at Bradshaw Automotive!

2016 Malibu Hybrid’s Powertrain Borrows from the New Volt

2016 Chevrolet Malibu

For the 2016 model year, the Chevrolet Malibu will also be offered as an electric, which we at Bradshaw Chevrolet have now learned will be powered in part by technology developed for the 2016 Chevrolet Volt.

That can only be a good thing as we’ve learned at Bradshaw Automotive, because the Volt is an exceptional vehicle when it comes to electric technology.  We have high expectations for the new 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid.

Some of the borrowed parts will included a modified two-motor drive unit, which will be mated to an all-new, direct-injection 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine as part of the Malibu Hybrid’s powertrain. That’ll give it a total output of 182 horsepower and the ability to go up to 55 mph on electricity alone!

The two vehicles also share power electronics and a blended regenerative braking system, which stores kinetic energy produced under braking into the battery system.

The Malibu Hybrid will offer an estimated fuel economy rating exceeding 45 mpg, which is higher than the competing hybrid variants of the Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonata.

Tell us what you think of the new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu as an electric vehicle here at Bradshaw Automotive as we wait for it to come into stores!
